Very Un-Boyles style portraits from 1949 series
Argus Portaits from 1948 Weekend Magazine
THree of the four team photos have their backgrounds removed. This indicates that the grandstand background was used and all threee appear are known Boyles photos. The other photo, of Footscray, has an open background, and is unlikely to be a Boyles photo.

Boyles Contribution
Boyles took a number of the photos in this series. Though a number of the photos are appear to have been taken by another photographer. There is quite a contrast in the portrait styles in between the 1948 and 1949 series.- The 48 series is quite stiff compared to the 49 series which has more action poses.
- The backgrounds are blurred in the 48 series because the originals are taken against empty grandstands. The backgrounds are visible in the 49 series
- The elongated arms and legs in the 1949 series remind me of the Argus portraits of the same period and may be taken by the same photographer.
- A number of the 1949 Individual images are used in the 1951 Kornies Footballers in Action Series. See that Series page for details.
