W. Rees, follower and half back, is the big man of the side. 'Buffie' is a fine mark, and in splendid form. He belongs to the family of swimmers, and was secretary of the Port swimmers for some time. Source - Record Emerald Hill 22-Aug-1925 p1

'W. Rees— 'the long feller' — has been playing five years with the Red and Blues. 'Buffie' plays half forward and ruck, and is a splendid high ' mark. When he uses his weight it is like a tidal wave. 1 What about some today!' (Record Emerald Hill, 1926) 3

"Buffy Rees. who was a candidate for secretarial honors, is a good robust follower and a good left foot kick. He was one of the main stays of the club in 1929. He went to New Zealand, but towards the end of the season returned to Port and proved an acquisition. (Record - Emerald Hill 1933) 4
