Assistance of Bill Jacobs
When Ken distributed a paper (Research Guide to Boyles Photos SLV) in June 2010 with his initial identifications, a number of people responded positively and provided additional information. The North Ballarat Football Club, through their historian Stanley 'Digger' Roberts, were especially enthusiastic and organised a discussion/powerpoint presentation on Boyles at Eureka Stadium. Well-known football and cricket identity Bill Jacobs, accompanied by close friend Peter Bedford (the former state cricketer and Brownlow Medallist) attended the session and, seventy years on, identified most of his old team mates in this photo. Sadly, Bill Jacobs passed away in 2011. He is fondly remembered.Bill Jacobs played football for Brunswick, but later became much better known as a cricketer and cricket administrator.
