LEAGUE FOOTBALLERS OF 1950 — RUCKMEN by Percy Taylor

Argus 22 April 1950 p.3 The Argus Weekend Magazine

JACK CONDON is Geelong's ace ruckman - a position he reached in only his first year of senior football. He came, however, from the juniors, and Geelong has found many fine young players who learnt the game in the many parks in and around Geelong.

Weighing 13st. and 6ft. in height Condon is brimful of determination. In the words of the barracker he is a "good battler." His chief assets, apart from his grit, are his pace, and the accuracy with which he delivers the ball to the rover and what rover would ask for more! He is a good mark, and a fine kick, which makes him a most valuable player when "resting" on the half forward, line.

Condon is a fireman on the railways. One can imagine how he appreciates the opportunity of running around on the nice green sward after stoking engines for a living!
