LEAGUE FOOTBALLERS OF 1950 — RUCKMEN by Percy Taylor

Argus 22 April 1950 p.3 The Argus Weekend Magazine

KEVIN CURRAN 6ft. and 15 stone, is No. 1 Ruckman for Hawthorn. He is a grand mark. a fine kick, and is the good bullocky type - the player who never gives up, but battles all through the game. His great asset is that he flies high for the ball thrown to the pack, or bounced, and sheer strength enable him to take up his position for giving the ball to the rover.

Kev., who came from Traralgon in 1942, has played 62 games for Hawthorn, and is one of the consistently good players in the team. He is usually one of the club's representatives in the Victorian team, and helped Victoria to win the A.N.F.C. carnival in Hobart in 1947.

He also played for Victoria in that, famous match against Western Australia on the M.C.G. last June.

Unfortunately Curran came out of that game with a broken jaw, and he did not play for his club again last season.
