Team: Probably Press (Wednesday League)
People: Greg Stockdale - Middle Row, fourth from left
Location:
Date: Press Team existed 1930-34

Comment

Cannot identify team or grandstand. Doubt this is Prahran or Preston. Possibly a team competing in a workplace-based mid-week league. Grandstand one-quarter full. ‘PFC’ insignia on jumpers. ‘P’ may not stand for a suburb but a workplace. Postals? Police? Circa 1930’s. Very light-coloured jumper - white or cream. Seventeen of the players wear this jumper - two others have entirely different one. Mixture of black and white shorts.

No players recognised.

Player fourth from left in middle row resembles Greg Stockdale (Essendon, Northcote, Coburg).

Further Work Needed

P in P.F.C. probably stands for Press (Wednesday League). Press formed in 1930.

Probably the Carlton Grandstand

the Argus team was struggling to survive and, following a restructure, re-entered as the ‘Press club, associated with the Victorian printing industry’. (Burke, 2008, 252)

The Colours of the Press Team were a similar light shade.
