Richmond had no players with over 100 League games, (as opposed to Collingwood's 6) and Richmond's players combined total of League games was 765 compared to Collingwood's 1413.
The most experienced players in the Richmond side were Tom O'Halloran (81 games), Allan Geddes (79 games) and captain Cyril 'Dooley' Lilburne (74 games).
Eight of Richmond's 18 had not played in the 1927 Grand Final, but these included Percy Bentley and Allan Geddes, two experienced players.

The Aftermath
After losing three VFL Grand Finals in a row, Richmond were finalists again in 1930, they would suffer the frustration of another Grand Final loss in 1931 before finally breaking through in 1932.Collingwood would go on to win their record making fourth consecutive Grand Final in 1930.
