The Game

In a sensational last minute fight back from the brink of defeat, the Hawks had swung the ball up to Ian Mort, who marked strongly and played on to find Peck on his own 20 yards out straight in front.

The Siren sounded as Peck went back for his kick but he remained perfectly calm and booted the ball through the posts with about a two-foot margin. (The Age Mon 25-Jul-1960 p20)

It could not get closer than that. Hawthorn Vice captain John Peck in his 105th game kicked his second goal to break the Hawthorn Hoodoo.
