LEAGUE FOOTBALLERS OF 1950 —ROVERS

The Argus 29-Apr-1950 P7

HAROLD ("Tim") ROBB and DON ("Peewee") CONDON were North Melbourne's two rovers last season. When a boy, Robb, who came from Footscray, was coached by Jock Cordner, one of the best centre men in the League when he played with North years ago.

Tim, a good-living boy, is a fine club man, and almost a fanatic as far as sport is concerned. He does everything possible to keep himself fit and to improve his game. Earlier he lacked that initial pace that is so essential in a rover, but hard work helped him to overcome that handicap.

He is married, lives in Footscray, and works on the wharf. In the summertime he plays cricket.

"Peewee" Condon got his name because he was smaller than most of the players when he was in the thirds. Then he went to Brighton, and was a grand player in that V.F.A. team, being stationed mainly on the half forward flank. In his last two years at North he has been a rover and pocket forward.

He had his first senior game with North in 1944, and has now played 108 games. His value while resting in attack is indicated by his tally as a goalkicker, for he has kicked 176 goals. His name is inscribed among those who have won the trophy for best and fairest player in the club.

He is an excellent cricketer, and played several games with the North seconds, his form being such as to suggest that he could have reached the senior side. However, he was persuaded to go back to the Carlton Brewery and play with his work- mates.

He is married, is the father of a small daughter, and has just built his own house in Pascoevale.
