LEAGUE FOOTBALLERS OF 1950-CENTRE HALF-BACKS – Percy Taylor

Argus 13-May-1950 P7

ONE of the best and most adaptable players in the League is TOM MORROW, Geelong's vice-captain, who is just as much at home in the ruck as at centre half-back. He is a left-footer, which makes him an even more awkward opponent. Nearly 6ft. 3in., he weighs 13 1/2 stone, and is as active as a 5ft". 6in. player. He is an excellent mark and kick. Perhaps he does not shine in ground play,' but that department of the game does not come easily to a man of his height and build;

Geelong frequently uses Morrow for special jobs For example, he was placed full back against John Coleman in the match in which; Essendon was defeated last year by 25 goals to 12. He kept Coleman down to three goals. In the opening match this season, when Hawthorn was annihilated, Morrow was in the ruck, but kicked five goals.

Morrow was a student at the Geelong High School, but was caught up by the war before he had played serious football. When he doffed his uniform he became a bank clerk but left it a few months ago to enter business in Geelong, where he is doing well. He was married a few months ago, and is living in New town.;
