The Carlton player photographed in front of the Gardiner Stand at Princes Park is Herb ‘Stumpy’ Turner who played 85 games for the Blues from 1944-49. Turner, from Bendigo, played on a wing in the 1945 Carlton premiership team, and in the forward pocket in the 1947 premiership side. He also played in the 1949 losing Grand Final.
