The player seen here lining up to kick is the Richmond wingman Leo Merrett. Originally from Serviceton, and Nhill Football Club, Merrett played 170 games for the Tigers, from 1940-49. He won Richmond’s best and fairest in 1942 and 1944, and represented Victoria four times. The photo has been taken in the mid-late forties with the Ernest H. King Stand in the background. This grandstand was converted to the Richmond Social Club in 1980.
