RON EVANS has done a fine job for Hawthorn since he was cleared recently by Richmond. He first played with the Richmond recruits, and gained the senior list when only 13. He had a few senior games as a rover, but did not have many opportunities, as there were too many rovers. Later he tried the wing, and then he became a wing half-forward. Ron is a lovely left-foot pass, and is suited by the open game. Already he is one of his new club's best players. He is single, a motor body works employee, and is a keen swimmer in the summer time.

In Hawthorn's struggle to find a settled team there have been many changes on the other half-forward wing. Jack McLeod, a former player who has emerged from retirement, had two games there, but is now out of action with injuries. Alan Le Nepyeu, already discussed as a wing player, has also played there, as has Barry Griffiths, a new player, who has now settled down as centre half forward. Perhaps Mick Fitchett, who is now placed there, will be a 'regular." Mick - is a strong-looking youngster, with lots of ability. He is a pennant cricketer of great ability.
